The Melton Cricket Club is one of the most picturesque grounds in the whole country as it is situated in a parkland setting right in the heart of the Norfolk countryside. It was founded in 1974 and has gone on to become an important focal point of this small and quiet village.

The villagers absolutely love cricket and are extremely proud of their small cricket club. The club has great practice and playing facilities, and anyone is welcome through their doors, no matter their age or gender. The club’s main aim is to help anyone who loves cricket to become the best cricketer that they can.

There are plenty of teams that budding cricketers can join as they have a Sunday team, four Saturday teams, a women’s team, and two mid-week teams. For youngsters, there are six different junior sides – U9s, U11 Girls, U11s, Under 13s, Under 15s, and Under 19s.

All these teams are part of a league and have done pretty well over the years. For example, the first XI compete in the Norfolk Cricket Alliance Division 2, while their A team participate in Division 5. Their B team plays in Norfolk Cricket League Division 2W, while their C team plays in 4SW. The Sunday team takes part in the Mid-Norfolk Sunday League Shield Premier Division.

All of the coaches are volunteers who have a passion for teaching others all the ins and outs of this great sport. They believe in integrity and fair play and will not tolerate anyone who does not play within the spirit of cricket.

The club regularly holds a variety of social events to ensure that the community remains as one.
